Sustainability & Accreditation: How Perlifoc Eco + supports Greener Building

When we launched the new Nullifire Structural Protection range, our goal was not just to deliver industry-leading fire resistance — but to do so in a way that actively supports the construction industry’s sustainability objectives.

For many projects, achieving independent environmental certifications such as BREEAM, LEED,WELL and Cradle To Cradle is now a key part of the design brief. These accreditations require measurable environmental benefits across materials, energy, health, and lifecycle impact. Nullifire’s new range has been developed with these standards in mind.

Our new range has been designed with these principles at its core.

-BREEAM – Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method

BREEAM is the UK’s leading sustainability assessment method for buildings. It awards credits for materials that have verified Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) produced in accordance with ISO 14025 and EN 15804+A2:2020.

Perlifoc HP Eco+ meets these requirements, meaning its use can contribute to the Materials section of a BREEAM assessment. With recycled content, recyclable packaging, and manufacturing in an ISO 14001-certified facility, it supports a project’s ability to achieve higher BREEAM ratings while maintaining fire safety performance.

LEED – Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design

LEED is a globally recognised framework that assesses buildings across categories like Materials & Resources and Indoor Environmental Quality.

The low-VOC formulation of Perlifoc HP Eco+ supports indoor air quality targets, while its verified EPD and responsible material sourcing contribute towards LEED credits. For international projects, this ensures compliance not only with safety regulations but also with global sustainability expectations.

WELL Building Standard

WELL certification focuses on occupant health and wellbeing. In the Air and Materials categories, it rewards products that minimise harmful emissions.

Perlifoc HP Eco+ is formulated with low-emission raw materials, supporting healthier indoor environments without compromising on its REI 240 performance rating. This makes it ideal for buildings where occupant comfort and health are part of the design brief.

Cradle to Cradle Certified® Silver

Cradle to Cradle (C2C) is an internationally respected measure of sustainable product design based on circular economy principles. Perlifoc HP Eco+ has achieved C2C Silver Certification, which means it has been assessed for:

  • Material health – safer, non-toxic ingredients.
  • Product circularity – use of recycled content and design for recyclability.
  • Clean air & climate protection – reduced environmental footprint in manufacturing.
  • Water stewardship and social fairness – ensuring production respects people and planet.

For developers aiming to future-proof their projects, C2C certification is a strong indicator of a product’s long-term sustainability credentials.

Lifecycle Transparency

Perlifoc HP Eco+ has undergone a full Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) from manufacturing to end-of-life, in line with ISO 14040 and ISO 14044 standards. This transparency ensures that specifiers can confidently demonstrate environmental impact reductions as part of their sustainability reporting.

Sustainable Fire Protection Without Compromise

By choosing Perlifoc HP Eco+, project teams are not only meeting stringent fire protection regulations — they’re also making measurable progress towards internationally recognised sustainability certifications.

It’s proof that high-performance passive fire protection can be a catalyst for greener, healthier, and more responsible construction.
