Opened in September 2018, The Cardiff West Community High School is located in the port city of Cardiff, on the south coast of Wales. Built for a total of £31,000,000 by contractor Willmott Dixon, the school facility now complies with the latest fire regulations and is able to accommodate up to 1,200 students . Divided into three large blocks, the complex covers an area of 13,500 m2.
To ensure the safety of students, Sharpfibre Limited installed passive fire protection via Nullifire products. The intumescent paint Nullifire SC902 was applied in order to protect the outer steel structure from the potential effects of the fire. Thanks to its high coverage potential, the option of applying the required thickness in a single application, and its fast curing, the Nullifire SC902 was able to significantly accelerate the project process.
It’s full steam ahead for Nullifire, a brand of Construction Products Group Europe (CPG), who is celebrating its 50th anniversary in the passive fire protection industry and the team behind the brand is looking forward to marking the occasion in style.
There are many factors to consider when it comes to ensuring an appropriate level of fire safety in a building. Along with the rest existing Passive Fire Protection (PFP) methods, special attention should be paid to fire compartments.
